Alicia McCabe is a solicitor in our Auckland office. She joined Shine Lawyers after graduating from Otago University and worked as a Law Clerk until her admission to the bar in August 2018. Since then she has had appeared before both the High Court and the Court of Appeal.
Along with her strong legal drafting skills and research skills, Alicia is also an excellent negotiator and mediator, driven to get her clients the results they deserve. Often a first point of contact for clients approaching the firm, she’s known for her open communication. Alicia speaks in plain English not legal jargon, and is direct, honest and empathetic to her clients.
“My proudest moments are when I secure significant settlements for clients who thought they had zero or very limited rights when going up against big companies.”
While Alicia works across a broad range of briefs, she has special expertise in the following areas:
All types of insurance claims acting for clients asserting their rights against the insurance company, but particularly motor vehicle claims.
- Natural disasters
Acting for clients after they suffer fire or earthquake damage.
- Relationship property
Helping newly separated people get what they are entitled to – and move on.
- Professional negligence
Suing lawyers, conveyancers, accountants or real estate agents who give bad advice or false representations that cause clients harm e.g. leaky buildings.
- Settlement negotiation
Being approachable and open to clients while standing firm in the face of big companies and getting the results clients deserve.
