Emily is a Law Clerk based in Shine Lawyers’ Christchurch office, where she supports matters across class actions, abuse law and civil litigation. She is involved in a wide range of tasks throughout the litigation process, including legal research, drafting documents, managing correspondence, and assisting with case preparation. Emily’s attention to detail and reliability make her an integral part of the team from the early stages of a matter through to resolution.
Known for her compassion and strong communication skills, Emily takes a client-focused approach to her work, ensuring plaintiffs feel supported, informed, and heard at every stage of the legal process. Her practical mindset allows her to approach complex tasks efficiently while maintaining a high standard of care and professionalism.
One of Emily’s proudest career achievements to date was assisting in a medical insurance dispute that resulted in the insurer’s decision being overturned. Her thorough research and careful attention to detail contributed to a successful outcome, ultimately making a meaningful difference in her client’s life.
Raised in a small rural community, Emily brings a grounded work ethic and a strong sense of integrity to her role. Her background in community-based voluntary service has shaped her genuine commitment to advocating for others and seeking fair outcomes for those in vulnerable positions.
Emily is currently completing her final year of a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Otago.
